Operate wood-chipping machinery and wildland equipment safely and efficiently
Clear brush, debris, and hazardous fuels in designated mitigation areas
Thin vegetation to reduce wildfire risk
Tow and operate District vehicles with chipping equipment
Lift and move logs, branches, and other materials
Occasionally operate a chainsaw
Haul and deliver wood chips
May staff a wildland engine during Red Flag Days
Monitor environmental conditions and report safety hazards
Communicate with residents regarding fuel reduction services
Maintain daily activity records
Perform other assigned duties as needed
What We're Looking For:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
21 years of age or older
Ability to obtain Red Card Certification (provided by PCFD after hire)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to build effective working relationships with coworkers, partner agencies, and the public
Experience operating tools and equipment used in vegetation management (preferred but not required)
