About the Role

Live Like Sam is looking for a creative, organized Program Coordinator to lead our Challenge Accepted program, manage our community events calendar, and find fresh ways to reach the youth and families we serve. You'll split your time between planning from home and being out in the community: facilitating workshops, tabling at schools and events, and building relationships with partners. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys wearing many hats, connects well with kids (primarily Pre-K through 8th grade), and loves seeing a plan turn into a room full of engaged students.

Schedule and Flexibility

This is a 40-hour-per-week position, but your schedule won't always be Monday through Friday, 9 to 5. Some of our programs and events take place on weeknight evenings or Saturdays. When they do, you'll flex your hours throughout the week so your total stays at 40, with approval from the Program Director. Availability for evenings and weekends as needed (community events, our annual Gala, and similar) is required.

What You'll Do

Facilitate workshops and activities

  • Engage and energize students (pre-k through 12th grade) through fun, age-appropriate workshops and activities focused on well-being, life skills, and character development.

Manage the Challenge Accepted program

  • Plan, schedule, and run the Challenge Accepted series, which introduces youth to new experiences and volunteer opportunities through programs like Intro to Sailing and volunteering with therapy dogs.
  • Coordinate with program partners on dates, logistics, and participant needs.
  • Track sign-ups, attendance, and participant feedback, and use what you learn to make each program better.

Own the community events

  • Coordinate and maintain Live Like Sam's calendar of community events.
  • Plan and staff events, including tabling at schools, community functions, and outreach events.
  • Maintain and organize tabling and programming supplies and inventory.
  • Create engaging and impactful activities for the community to participate in.

Support program outreach

  • Promote our programs to students, families, schools, and community partners in Summit and Wasatch Counties
  • Build and nurture relationships with educators, health workers, youth clubs, and community organizations to grow our reach and impact.
  • Develop creative, new, and innovative ways to engage our community and expand awareness of our programs, meeting youth and families where they are through on-the-ground events, flyers, etc.
  • Give program presentations in classrooms and at community events.

Support the team

  • Help with special projects, fundraising initiatives, annual gala, and other needs as they arise.
  • Operations: Keep shared documents, supplies, storage, and project trackers organized and up to date.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Lives in or has strong ties to the Summit or Wasatch County community (lives within 30 minutes of our program geography)
  • Passion for youth well-being and a commitment to supporting young people's positive development.
  • 3 - 5+ years of experience running programming or education for youth and/or adults.
  • Comfortable facilitating groups of all sizes, from small groups to large groups of both youth and adults.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build rapport with students, families, and partners.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time management, with the ability to juggle several programs and events at once.
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Calendar).
  • Availability for evenings and weekends as needed for Live Like Sam events.
  • A creative, enthusiastic approach, a willingness to learn, and diverse perspectives to contribute.
  • A professional who can back up the Programs Director's programming workload as needed.

A Plus

  • Ability to communicate in Spanish with students and families.
  • Familiarity with youth development principles and practices.
  • Experience in education, mental health, or well-being.
  • Event planning or program coordination experience.
  • Graphic design and social media skills.
