ABOUT LIVE LIKE SAM
Live Like Sam exists for one thing: the mental and emotional resilience of young people. It is not one program area among several, it is the whole organization, and we are the only nonprofit in Summit and Wasatch Counties built solely around it. We run eight programs, all free and fully inclusive, reaching more than 6,000 students in grades Pre-K through 12, every one built around prevention and resilience rather than crisis response. Thrive and Thrive 2.0, our signature curriculum, are developed and implemented in partnership with WeBeWell and independently evaluated, with positive measured results. We build mental and emotional fitness the same way training builds physical fitness, before a crisis.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Live Like Sam has built an integrated, in-house marketing and communications function: brand, digital platforms, campaigns, film, fundraising materials, and a documented playbook. You start by inheriting that system, the brand brief, the asset library, the templates, and the calendar, and your first job is to run it well.
From there the role grows. Over time this position is expected to develop original campaigns end to end, strategy through concept, creation, and execution, supported by original on-brand assets you produce yourself. Marketing here works as an internal client-services function with three clients. Programming needs cohorts filled. Development needs donors and sponsors moved. The community needs a steady, credible voice on youth mental health, and that third client has no other owner inside the organization, so this role carries it. These needs are concurrent and ongoing, so priorities are force ranked in cooperation with the departments and the Executive Director, who holds the final call. All three are measured against benchmarks. This is a role for someone who wants to build, not only maintain.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
1. EXECUTIVE SUPPORT. The top priority of this role. Direct support to the Executive Director on partnership, sponsorship, and grant collateral, plus ad hoc project support as priorities shift week to week. You will need to move quickly and produce polished work on short notice.
2. PROGRAM MARKETING. Programming is your first internal client. Every program asset the community sees, on the website and out in every channel, is designed by this role in partnership with the Programming team: recruitment and enrollment campaigns, program pages, event assets, and seasonal refreshes. Programming sets the calendar and the substance. You translate it into work that fills cohorts and shows up on time.
3. FUNDRAISING & REVENUE. Development is your second internal client, and fundraising is foundational to everything marketing does here, including driving attendance to programming. Sponsor fulfillment, meaning every sponsor receives the recognition and reporting they were promised, tracked in the system already built for it. Gala materials and project management, and refreshes of the Champions Circle, partnership, and sponsorship decks with grant language support. Champions Circle is tied directly to driving donations to Thrive, our signature program.
4. COMMUNITY VOICE & THOUGHT LEADERSHIP. The community is the third client, and this one is yours to carry. Live Like Sam intends to be the voice for youth mental health in Summit and Wasatch, a recognized presence in the youth mental wellness ecosystem, and a trusted resource for families. Parent Corner, Same Inside, and the Community Table are the current expressions of that, alongside earned media, authored commentary, and speaking and partner platforms. Credibility built here makes every enrollment and fundraising ask easier.
5. ORIGINAL CAMPAIGN DEVELOPMENT. Strategy, concept, creation, and execution of social-dominant, multi-platform campaigns, with graphic design, copy, formatting, structuring, and scheduling. Targets vary by campaign: students, parents, program and community partners, donors, grant officers, local businesses, and the community at large.
6. BRAND OWNERSHIP, DESIGN & AI-ASSISTED PRODUCTION. You own the brand brief and you are responsible for evolving it. The design system was rebuilt in 2026, and the standard it sets is that every program reads as distinct while sitting clearly under the Live Like Sam umbrella, in one cohesive and contemporary model. Holding that integrity, and keeping the system moving forward, is how the brand earns recognition and credibility. You will also inherit a curated knowledge base of design criteria and prompts across Claude, ChatGPT, and Ideogram, plus the Canva library. You are expected to harness it and keep iterating, turning work around quickly without brand drift or any drop in quality.
7. SAME INSIDE. Our anti-stigma platform, evergreen year-round with a May peak alongside Leading with Kindness and annual giving. Growth in 2027 depends on extending it beyond Live Like Sam to affiliates and local businesses using the existing toolkits, which makes it a revenue line.
8. LEADING WITH KINDNESS. An emerging program we intend to build out with partners and, in time, its own fundraising. Marketing shapes how it is introduced and grows: positioning, launch materials, partner-facing collateral, and the case for support as it matures.
9. CONTENT & COPYWRITING. The monthly newsletter end to end, a minimum of three Parent Corner blog articles a month (tagged and cross-promoted), campaign and year-end giving copy, and the annual Impact Report.
10. SOCIAL & DIGITAL. Always-on social across all programs, program recruitment campaigns, and ongoing website updates and seasonal refreshes.
11. ANALYTICS & MEASUREMENT. Google Analytics, website tracking, and campaign analysis against benchmarks and KPIs. These measures guide where effort goes and are also how performance in this role is assessed.
12. FILM & VIDEO. Coordinating Gala film logistics, casting, releases and waivers, scheduling, and paperwork, then editing and repurposing the resulting clips across programs and fundraising. Creative direction may be led separately.
13. PROJECT MANAGEMENT. Owning the marketing calendar, coordinating freelancers and vendors, tracking deliverables, and reporting to the Executive Director and Marketing Lead.
HOW THE YEAR RUNS
An October 1, 2026 start places onboarding alongside the Gala and year-end giving, the heaviest fundraising stretch of the year, so the first weeks are live work. From there the year has three anchors: year-end giving in November and December, the May window where Same Inside, Leading with Kindness, and annual giving converge, and the fall Gala. Same Inside itself is evergreen and runs all year, with May as its peak. Program recruitment follows the school calendar, with peaks ahead of fall and spring cohorts.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Four or more years in marketing or communications, spanning multi-platform campaigns, social media, content creation, and project management.
- Evidence of building campaigns, not only executing them. Strategy, concept, and creative development from a blank page.
- An excellent writer across newsletters, blogs, campaign copy, donor and grant materials, and public-facing commentary.
- Hands-on with design tools (Canva or Adobe), email platforms (Mailchimp or similar), a website CMS, and donation platforms (GiveSmart a plus).
- Fluent with AI tools for creative production (Claude, ChatGPT, Ideogram, or similar), and able to build on an existing prompt and design-criteria library rather than starting from scratch each time.
- Comfortable in Google Analytics and reporting performance against benchmarks and KPIs.
- An internal partner to program and development staff: turning their goals into briefs, force ranking asks, shipping on time.
- An organized project manager who can run a calendar and juggle multiple vendors and deadlines.
- Hybrid, within reach of Park City. Not a daily commute, but regular time on the ground for meetings, program moments, and events.
- Self-directed and responsive, able to absorb unplanned requests without dropping the plan.
- Mission-driven, with an interest in youth mental health a strong plus. Nonprofit experience is a plus.
COMPENSATION AND TERMS
- Annual salary: $60,000 (W2)
- Benefits: Provided
- Schedule: Full-time, salaried
- Start date: Targeting October 1, 2026
- Location: Hybrid, regular time in Park City
- Reports to: Executive Director & Marketing Lead
- Onboarding support: Advisory transition support
HOW THIS ROLE EVOLVES
You are not rebuilding the brand. The strategy, brand, systems, and asset library already exist, and you are expected to run them from day one, escalating major creative decisions. What changes over time is scope: original campaigns, original assets, and measurable results in donations, sponsorships, and program enrollment. Advisory transition support is available during onboarding.
