Summit Land Conservancy - Programs Specialist
The Opportunity:

Programs Specialist. This is a rare opportunity to help a highly respected and
accomplished land trust share its work within a fun, collaborative community. As
Summit Land Conservancy’s Programs Specialist, you are the face of one of the
most effective conservation organizations protecting land in the Great Salt Lake
watershed. In this role, you’ll meet donors, lead volunteers, and organize engaging, well executed events. Your relationship-building skills will strengthen our ability to
connect people to the lands we protect, and your passion for our mission will foster
strong partnerships with a wide range of organizations and individuals. Summit
Land Conservancy is a leading land trust in Northern Utah, conserving farmland,
recreational open space, and wildlife habitat from Wasatch to Weber County.
Work Hours & Location:
This position is based at the Summit Land Conservancy
office at 1877 Gold Dust Lane, Park City, UT, and follows a regular Monday–Friday
schedule. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required. Flex time and comp

Position Summary:
The Programs Specialist plans, implements, and coordinates
Summit Land Conservancy’s community outreach programs and supports the
organization’s fundraising events. This role is ideal for a well-organized, detailoriented, people-focused individual who enjoys creating events that are
informative, engaging, and run smoothly.
The Programs Specialist reports to the Vice President of Communications and works
closely with the Vice President of Donor Relations, Philanthropy Manager,
Operations Manager, and CEO. This position also manages seasonal outreach staff
and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
Outreach Programs
• Create and evaluate a comprehensive annual plan for outreach programs,
including Hops & Hikes, Moonshine Adventures, Hoppy Hour, and community
tabling events.
• Develop new engagement opportunities in outlying areas across the Wasatch
Back.
• Collaborate with community partners on outreach events.
• Communicate with and follow up with event participants, tracking
interactions and maintaining detailed records in the Blackbaud eTapestry
database.
• Organize all program and event materials digitally in shared BOX folders.
• Conduct post-event evaluations and provide recommendations for
improvement.
• Provide detailed information on upcoming events to the Vice President of
Communications for inclusion in email and social media communications.
• Coordinate and manage seasonal staff and volunteers.
Volunteer Program
• Manage and coordinate Summit Land Conservancy’s volunteer program.
• Train and mentor volunteers to effectively communicate the organization’s
mission and independently represent its values.
• Develop and implement meaningful volunteer recognition and engagement
efforts.
Fundraising & Event Support
• Assist the Vice President of Donor Relations, Philanthropy Manager, and CEO
with identifying and cultivating prospective donors.
• Manage venue logistics and preparation for fundraising events.
• Organize fundraising event materials digitally in shared BOX folders.
• Assist with post-event evaluations and provide recommendations for
improvement.
• Research and solicit in-kind donations.
Storytelling & Communications Support
• Assist with website and social media updates, and collect stories, quotes,
photos, and basic video content from the field to support communications
and fundraising efforts.
• Draft email and social media content and submit all materials to the Vice
President of Communications for review.
• Collaborate with the communications team to translate technical conservation
work into clear, compelling, and inspiring messages.
• Provide timely updates on events and website content to help keep
information current.
• Represent Summit Land Conservancy’s mission and values consistently and
professionally in all public-facing interactions.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience.
• Ability to present information clearly and compellingly, both in writing and in
person.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and database
management systems.
• Creative, empathetic, highly organized, and eager to contribute to a skilled
and collaborative team.
• Basic photography, videography, or content-gathering skills.
• Sound judgment; tactful and able to handle confidential information
appropriately.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Genuine appreciation for open space; experience or strong interest in
conservation.
• Friendly, professional demeanor with staff, volunteers, donors, and the
public.
• Ability to handle high-pressure moments (such as large events) with grace.
• Familiarity with Wasatch Back nonprofits, communities, trails, and outdoor
culture.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends and travel throughout Northern
Utah as needed.
• Ability to work outdoors in variable weather and terrain and spend extended
periods on your feet.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Spanish language skills are a plus, but not required.

Vice President of Communications
Compensation: Starting salary $55,000 plus benefits; 36-hour work week
