Climate Fund Manager

Position Description 

The Climate Fund Manager at Park City Community Foundation is responsible for managing the Climate Fund, the Zero Food Waste initiative, collaborative partnerships, advocacy efforts, and identifying ways to create a meaningful and measurable impact that advances the goals of the Climate Fund. Working closely with the Climate Fund Committee, the Vice President of Impact, and a range of community partners, this role ensures the Climate Fund delivers meaningful and measurable impact across Summit County. The candidate should be knowledgeable about the field of climate change, have previous experience working in philanthropy, and can work collaboratively across sectors. This position will be physically based at Park City Community Foundation, located in Park City, Utah. This position is full-time and will report to the Vice President of Impact and the Climate Fund Steering Committee.

Climate Fund Mission 

Park City Community Foundation’s Climate Fund was created to implement ambitious climate initiatives by building capacity and accelerating progress that otherwise would not have existed in Summit County. The Community Foundation catalyzes climate solutions by leveraging our network, donors, and private/public partnerships. The current focus of the Climate Fund is on our Zero Food Waste efforts, ensuring that our community is aggressively diverting organic waste from the landfill. In the future, the Climate Fund may expand or amend its vision with the goal of addressing the most pressing and attainable sustainability challenges our community may be facing. 

Essential Functions 

Program Strategy & Implementation 

• Lead implementation and continuous improvement of community-wide food waste diversion initiative, including residential curbside programs, neighborhood pilots, business partnerships, and school-based efforts. The goal is to reach full community participation by 2030. 

• Lead outreach and engagement efforts to increase community participation in the Zero Food Waste program, partnering closely with the marketing team to run effective campaigns. 

• Convene community meetings, workshops, and roundtables to gather input, strengthen trust, and accelerate adoption of food waste diversion programs. 

Partnerships, Government & Systems Alignment 

• Cultivate strong relationships with public officials, nonprofit leaders, business owners, and community members to advance systems-level climate solutions. 

• Serve as the primary liaison between Park City Community Foundation, Momentum Recycling, Summit County, Park City Municipal, major HOAs, school districts, and other operational partners to align goals, resolve program challenges, and increase adoption of the Zero Food Waste initiative. 

• Prepare monthly and quarterly reports to Summit County, internal dashboards, public-facing materials, and presentations for the Board and Climate Fund Steering Committee. 

• Maintain strong working relationships with public officials and share relevant program insights to help guide conversations about waste-diversion strategies and future infrastructure needs. 

• Participate in community activities as they relate to Zero Food Waste. 

Grantmaking & Climate Fund Stewardship 

• Oversee the Climate Fund’s grantmaking process – including identifying high-impact opportunities, performing due diligence, evaluating outcomes, and shepherding grantees toward measurable success. 

• Update Community Foundation Climate Fund donors on the efforts and impact of the Climate Fund. 

Professional Development & Organizational Support 

• Attend trainings (which may require occasional travel) that further develop skills, knowledge, and/or connections around climate, philanthropy, and grantmaking stewardship. 

• Perform related duties as required. 

Preferred Qualifications 

Experience: 

• Demonstrated experience leading complex projects related to climate action, sustainability, waste diversion, recycling, or circular economy systems. 

Ability to: 

• Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing;  

• Develop effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, community leaders, business owners, donors/funders, and the public; 

• Conduct presentations for diverse communities and potential supporters;  

• Work effectively in a cross-cultural environment, ensuring all segments of the community have a voice and have their needs and opportunities considered; 

• Independently manage work assignments in a high interpersonal contact and collaborative environment; 

• Professionally conduct work and maintain a positive attitude in the midst of change; 

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). 

The salary range for this full-time, exempt position is $70,000-$85,000.
