Job Description: Community Conversations Coordinator

Mountain Mediation Center (“MMC”), a nonprofit organization assisting residents of Summit and Wasatch counties in the prevention and resolution of disputes, is seeking to hire a part-time Community Conversations Coordinator. 5-7 hours per week. Some evenings required.  $20 an hour. 

MMC facilitates monthly bilingual Community Conversations (“Conversations”) to bring a greater sense of community among members of the increasingly diverse population in our service area.  The Conversations provide a safe space where participants are not judged for their opinion but valued for their contribution.  MMC focuses on engaging a wide variety of constituencies including: young adults, seniors, members of the Latino community and seasonal workers.  Topics are varied; ranging from housing, mental health, sharing traditions, etc. and are selected by MMC’s volunteer Restorative Justice team (“Team”) which leads the Conversation program.

  Duties and Responsibilities:  Provide administrative support to the Team in the planning and execution of monthly bilingual Community Conversations. Duties include:

  • Working with Team lead to schedule Team meetings
  • Attending Team meetings to plan Conversations (approximately 2 per month)
  • Creating and distributing promotional materials for each Conversation
  • Posting to MMC’s website and social media platforms
  • Assisting in developing and implementing outreach plan for turnout
  • Attending Conversations and providing support as needed
  • Maintaining databases and tracking program metrics and outcome data for each Conversation
  • Other actions, as may be needed, to ensure full execution of each Conversation

 Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner (preferably Spanish speaking).
  • Ability to work independently and in alignment with MMC policies and culture.
  • Ability to use Zoom, Mailchimp, Canva, Facebook, Instagram and knowledge of basic website management.
