The Promontory Club is looking to fulfill a vacancy for a Promontory Club Senior Catering Sales Manager:

Our Club Senior Catering Sales Manager will meet the Members’ food and beverage needs in a friendly and professional manner that is consistent with the highest standards of Promontory Club restaurants. 

Essential Functions:

  • Solicit banquet and catering business through sales calls and marketing initiatives and coordinates all negotiations, planning details of social, wedding, and business meetings.
  • Schedule site visits and provide assistance to any walk-in clients insuring each guest leaves with a positive impression.
  • Selling event and private dining space using departmental policy and procedures.
  • Responsible for achieving sales goals, utilize creative methods to close business.
  • Works closely during turnover process with event services manager upon completion of contracting.
  • Act as a liaison between operational staff and client.
  • Coordinate with the banquet department to maximize use of available function space.
  • Prepare and distribute relevant banquet event orders ten days in advance.
  • Identify potential clients and coordinate with marketing and sales.
  • Complete correspondence including contracts, confirmations, thank you letters and inquiries in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Oversee the preparation and distribution of daily function summaries, ten-day functions summaries, change orders, cancellation orders, and revised banquet event orders.
  • Merchandise catering menus and provide technical support to clients.
  • Maintain filing, tracing and client details.
  • Produce monthly sales reports to include production data,  pick up, lost business and forecasting.
  • Consult with necessary food and beverage operational staff to provide special menus and services.
  • Report client comments to the food and beverage director.
  • Ability to creatively resolve guests concerns or challenges using business acumen skills and discretion.
  • Obtain guarantees within 72 hours of all coordinated functions.
  • Maintain accurate records of billing and deposit information.
  • Monitor the presentation and service of coordinated functions and ensure introduction of the client to the operational management and staff.
  • Achieve and exceed required standards of customer service.
  • Attends all relevant functions ensuring all details are correct and the clients has received an introduction to the operational supervisor.
  • Knowledge of Food & Beverage service, seating, and table arrangements, lighting and audio/visual equipment
  • Knowledge of the physical requirements and operational restrictions of Promontory Club as they relate to functions.
  • Controls and analyzes quality levels of products and service related to function.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Extremely detail oriented personality.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of previous experience in a Senior catering Sales position in an upscale or luxury hotel or private club.
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field preferred.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen; P&L accountability and/or contract-managed service experience
  • Must possess strong knowledge of food and wine for menu development, menu planning and private/group event coordination.
  • Must possess strong knowledge of food and beverage financials, operations procedures, controls and administration, as well as awareness and ability to perform all sales-related functions.
  • Solid and proven track record for sales and leadership success.
  • Tech savvy, with high proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to effectively communicate with members, guests, management and co-workers.
  • Knowledge of current wedding and special event trends.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and on several tasks/projects simultaneously, and who can contribute to functional areas of the business outside of retail operations

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field strongly preferred.,
  • must have or be able to acquire a State of Utah food handler's certification within two weeks of employment;
  • must have a recognized alcohol server training card by the Utah Department of Alcohol and Beverage Control (UDABC);
  • must be at least 21 years of age for serving alcoholic beverages (UDABC).

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  5 years minimum banquet/event sales experience working in a senior catering sales manager position.  A broad background in banquet dining and events is preferred.  Basic computer skills and competency in the following Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and; POS software; must have strong communication and organization skills; must have a high attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment all while maintaining a high level of professionalism.

WORKING KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED ON JOB: Abide by Promontory policies and procedures and submit ideas for possible revision; work independently with little supervision; courteous and helpful with Promontory Club Members and employees; a thorough knowledge of all BEO systems, electronic media and Point of Sales systems will be required within the first 30 days of employment; practice proper and timely communication.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be willing to work various hours, nights, holidays and weekends when needed; must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time.

Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Wages will be determined upon employment and will be commensurate with experience.
