Trail Builders and Machine Operators

Creative Trails is a small operation with a lot of work and a professional reputation in the community. We have a positive and inclusive work culture where we work as a team.

We are looking for finish hand workers and machine operators (mini-excavator) for our 2023 season!

The views from our office are awesome! We are building mountain biking and hiking trails in Summit and Wasatch Counties and Northern Utah. Experience is not necessary, but is a plus. We will train anyone who wants to learn how to build trails! Pay scale depends on position and experience. Experience in outdoor recreation, forestry, parks and trails maintenance, construction, landscaping or any related field is beneficial.

This is seasonal work. We usually start around May 1st and work until late November, conditions permitting. We are looking for full time staff but will consider part time. Positions are responsible for performing a variety of tasks associated with the construction and maintenance of natural surface trails utilizing power and hand tools and small equipment.

• Responsible for safely operating an excavator to build natural surface trails
• Responsible for performing tasks associated with the building natural surface trails using hand tools including but not limited to: McLeod rake, garden rake and leaf rake, lawn roller, digging bar, loppers, sawzall, chainsaw and hedge trimmer.
• Perform a wide range of tasks such as rock work, grading and shaping dirt with an excavator and hand tools to complete projects in a safe, efficient, and industry leading workmanship like manner
• Work directly with Trail Specialist and Owner of Creative Trails, LLC in constructing trails
• Operate hand and power tools safely, effectively, and efficiently
• Assist Trail Specialist by maintaining hand tools, power tools, and equipment, to ensure all are stored securely, safely and in good working order
• Interact with clients and public regarding trail construction and public on trail construction issues
• Perform all duties while consistently upholding and demonstrating Creative Trails Core Values
