DESCRIPTION:  The Park City Vision 2020 established the vision of Bold, Multi-Modal Transportation Solutions. The Transportation Director will be tasked with leading efforts to implement a truly multi-modal transportation system. Under the City Manager's broad policy guidance and direction, directs the City's Parking, Traffic Operations, Transportation Planning, Transit, Active Transportation, Capital Transportation Projects, Transportation Demand Management (TDM), and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) programs.

Provides vision, leadership, and guidance to the transportation team by establishing goals and objectives within the policy directives set forth by the City Council, General Plan, and applicable adopted transportation plan and in guiding division managers in developing and implementing procedures to accomplish department goals and objectives.  

Provides leadership and vision for the Park City\Summit transit system. Establishes strategic plans, fosters interagency cooperation, and secures necessary local, state, and federal funding. Coordinate with transportation partners on regional issues. 

Responsible for implementing the City's adopted Transportation Master Plan, Transportation Demand Management Plan, Parking Management Plan, Active Transportation Plan, and Short-Range Transit Plan. Responsible for updating and providing leadership for developing additional guiding documents for Park City.

Oversees Transit, Transportation Planning, Parking, budgets, and monitors expenditures in accordance with adopted Budget Policies.  Fiscally accountable for keeping budget expenditures within Council approved levels, and developing, maintaining, and adjusting as appropriate a monthly and annual spending plan.

 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering, business, public administration, or a related field.
  • 8 years of experience working in the transportation profession.
  • 5 or more years of progressively responsible management experience 
  • Intimate knowledge of current Utah state and federal transportation legislation and 5 or more years of experience working with USDOT, FHWA, and FTA programs including Statewide Transportation Improvement Plans (STIP), grant writing, and compliance programs.
  • 2 or more years of experience managing a transportation engineering or traffic management operation.
  • National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification as required to serve as Transportation Director or ability to obtain.
  • Valid Utah driver’s license or ability to obtain. 
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work week evenings, weekends, and holidays.

 

*Years of experience may be substituted for formal education, and additional education may be substituted for years of experience. *   

 

Preferred:

  • Ability to communicate orally in basic Spanish.
  • Master’s degree in civil engineering, business, public administration, or related field.
  • Complex capital transportation projects and programs experience.
