Job Description

Do you know what it’s like to live with - or care for someone - with a mental illness? Are you passionate about supporting the Spanish-speaking community? Throughout Summit County, people are at a loss for where to go to access mental health resources. The mental healthcare system is confusing to navigate, especially if you’re experiencing a mental health challenge. Our Peer Navigators are here to listen, empathize, and direct people to local resources that fit their needs.

CONNECT Summit County’s mission is to create a well-informed, stigma-free community with access to mental health resources for all. 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an appropriate standard of confidentiality by strictly following all policies.
  • Receive incoming calls from the Spanish-speaking community while in the office. 
  • Respond in a timely manner to phone calls, text messages, and/or email inquiries.
  • Collect and record data in a timely manner.
  • Update Community Mental Health Resource Guide and online resource directory.
  • Attend monthly Community Resource Roundups.
  • Assist in monthly updates newsletter through Mailchimp.
  • Raise visibility for services by attending Latino community events.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Fluent in Spanish language and culture; understands English.
  • Lived experience of being a person who is in recovery from a mental illness and has achieved a reasonable amount of stability OR is a family member who has been a caregiver of a person with a mental illness.
  • Be certified or willing to be certified through a State of Utah or equivalent certification program in Adult Peer Support or Family Peer Support. 
  • Basic computer skills including email, internet searches, and using spreadsheets. Experience with Google suite. 
  • Maintain strict confidentiality, follow all HIPPA laws, maintain appropriate boundaries, be receptive to ongoing coaching, feedback, and training in peer support practices and principles. 
  • Background check required. 

This is a non-exempt position.
