Job Summary

The Official, Adult Sports position is responsible for providing a fun and safe environment for adult sports program participants for Basketball and/or Soccer.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older. 
  • Have or obtain CPR and First Aid certifications within four (4) weeks of hire.

The successful applicant must pass a required pre-employment background check and subsequent mandatory background checks in accordance with current District policy requirements.

Preferred but not required:

  • Knowledge of related sports.

Essential Functions

The following duties and responsibilities are intended to be representative of the work performed by the incumbent(s) in this position and are not all-inclusive.   • Prepare program sites 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. 
  • Communicate with facility and Basin staff regarding presence and needed items.
  • Monitor sites during activities. 
  • Direct participants to where they need to go. 
  • Ensure games start and end on time.
  • Officiate games according to program rules.
  • Assist in preparing athletic fields and cleaning up sites after games. 
  • Monitor staff readiness for sessions and ensure responsibilities are performed correctly. 
Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Knowledge of:

  • Sports and the skills required to play them. 
  • Computers and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.

Skill and Ability to:

  • Work with the public in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Exhibit good leadership qualities, sound judgment, and integrity; accept guidance willingly.
  • Manage difficult situations when needed, such as injury, illness, and disruption. 
  • Maintain good relations with coaches, players, parents, and staff.

Working Conditions and Aptitudes

  • Duties are performed indoors and outdoors, including working in inclement weather, extreme temperatures, and steep terrain. 
  • Work effectively with crowds and uncooperative individuals during difficult situations, emergencies, or periods of continuous demand.
  • Work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays depending on program needs.
  • This position is ineligible for remote work. Essential duties cannot be completed without being physically present.

Physical Requirements

  • Equal or less than 25% | Focus on a computer screen. 
  • Equal or less than 25% | Sitting. 
  • Equal or less than 100% | Standing, walking, bending, and other physical exertion. 
  • Equal or less than 50% | Pushing, pulling, and kneeling. 
  • Equal or less than 25% | Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds unassisted.
