Summit Community Gardens - EATS (SCG-EATS) seeks an educator to lead our seed-to-soil educational programs with youth. Our programs blend hands-on gardening, cooking, nutrition and sustainability for Pre-K to 9th graders in local schools. The ideal candidate will have experience leading indoor and outdoor programs with children, developing curriculum, creating recipes, and gardening. Great communication skills are key. Assisting with building partnerships, working with volunteers, and program coordination rounds out this role. This role plays a key part in realizing the SCG -EATS’ vision of creating healthier outcomes for local children and inspiring the next generation of healthy eaters.
This is a 20-hour/week, salaried, hybrid, year-round position which requires time in-person, on-site in the Garden and at locations around Park City.
Salary range $20-21,000 for 20 hours/week depending on experience plus a health & wellness stipend
Lead or assist with SCG-EATS cooking and gardening classes in school classrooms, including in-school and after school
Lead or assist with SCG - EATS cooking and gardening classes- onsite at our garden, including summer camps
Act as an on-site supervisor for summer camp
Lead or assist with the coordination and implementation of cooking and gardening programming with partner organizations
Be familiar with restorative behavioral management practices
Prepare for classes (i.e. grocery shopping and taking inventory)
Work with the team to develop new programs with community partners to share cooking, nutrition and gardening knowledge and build confidence and connection
Assist in managing volunteers in schools and garden
Work with the team on identifying opportunities for volunteers
Track evaluation metrics and attendance for all classes
Distribute surveys and input data
Develop recipes and curriculum collaboratively for all education classes
Coordinate community education events with a family focus, including promotion, outreach to partners, work with volunteers, and serving as on-site lead
Understand all platforms used to run the education programs and assist in processes as needed, including Squarespace, SmartWaiver, Canva, Google Suite
