Position Overview
The Accounting Manager manages the accounting process, produces financial statements, and assists the Assistant General Manager/CFO with annual budget preparation, cash flow planning, long-range planning and special projects. The Accounting Manager will report to the Assistant General Manager/CFO.
The Accounting Manager will work on the execution of the Club's financial plan while embracing the Club's mission, vision, and core values. The Accounting Manager will provide financial information contributing to the achievement of the Club's business and financial objectives.
The Accounting Manager will cross train with the team in accounting and administration which is responsible for coordinating and controlling all accounting practices, including but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, financial reporting, taxes, and record keeping.
Accounting Manager responsibilities include but are not limited to-
Manage the month end accounting process
o Maintain the general ledger
o Prepare standard monthly journal entries
o Ensure that all subsidiary accounting journals and records are accurately reflected in the general ledger including cash disbursements, cash receipts, member billing, payroll and membership transfers and sales
o Prepare monthly sales tax entries and coordinate payment
o Analyze all balance sheet accounts monthly and prepare adjusting journal entries for prepaids, inventory, accounts payable, payroll accrual, notes payable and miscellaneous assets and liabilities
o Prepare monthly cash and investment reconciliations to custodial statements
o Maintain fixed assets records including recording acquisitions and dispositions and monitor depreciation schedules
o Perform monthly budget variance analysis
Produce timely monthly financial statements and periodic reports to Club members
o Balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement
o Capital expenditures report
o Fund balance reports
o Periodic financial reporting to members
Assist the Assistant General Manager/CFO
o Prepare annual operating and capital budgets
o Forecast cash flow to analyze short-and long-term liquidity requirements
o Long-range financial planning
o Perform special projects assigned by the Assistant General Manager/CFO
Qualifications
· B.S. in Accounting, Finance or related field
· 5+ years of accounting experience including general ledger, financial reporting and budget preparation and analysis
· Strong proficiency and comfort level with information technology and accounting software with advanced proficiency in Excel
· Ability to work independently with demonstrated strong organization and time management skills
· Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
· Strong attention to detail
· Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills
· Ability to identify and implement accounting process improvements including workflows, standardization and documentation
· Good communication skills with a strong ability to communicate financial information in concise, clear terms
· Customer service mindset and ability to work with a small collegial environment
